Nordplus meeting in Uhtna, Estonia- November 2009
The first mobility meeting took place in Uhtna, Estonia 22.- 28 November. Our program with really busy.
Our guests arrived on Sunday, 22nd. All the school was ready to meet the guests at our entrance hall – students, teachers, families. Just little welcome words and everyone could go home.
In a week, students attended the lessons, because it’s school! But we managed to do a lot of more:
On Monday children of Uhtna gave a welcome concert. Everyone could perform because we are so small school! After lunch there was an environmental workshop because our other project is dealing with environmental issues. Diamond ranking – just to sort out the urgent environmental problems in the world. All students were divided into groups and had to discuss and find out common problems. But then the day wasn’t over – in the evening we all met at the canteen to get to know each other. Families, friends, guests, teachers, students.
On Tuesday it was St Catherine’s day. This is a traditional carnival day when children dress in white and go round in homes. So we had a costume making workshop (environmental of course, using old textiles )and had a big joyful party – Catherine’s Wedding. A lot of fun! By the way – the groom was Jesse from Finland and the bride was Sandija from Latvia.
On Wednesday, it was a day in our county centre Rakvere. Uhtna students guided us round the town though historical sites right into the biggest shopping centre. After that we went swimming – and everyone enjoyed it!
On Thursday we had an excursion to Estonian National Park Lahemaa. We had a walk on the seaside in Käsmu and a guided tour in Palmse nature centre. Even Estonian kids hadn’t been there in November before! Nice and relaxing day.
On Friday we were supposed to have open air lesson, but weather wasn’t promising so we had an inside cross-country game instead! Topics were connected to our meeting and attention, everyone could learn something. Then there was a splendid viola concert! In the evening we had a big farewell party – time to say good bye!
